Juan and Manuel Zablan arrived on Guam as part of the Spanish
Armada in the early 1800s, circa 1825. The Zablan brothers are
of French - Malaysian descent and served as Army officers. Both
Married Chamorro women of Spanish descent. The Zablan surname
was later changed to Sablan by the Spanish government as the the
Spanish alphabet did not have the letter "Z". Descendants of
Juan and Manuel thrived and, to this day, continue to contribute
to the communities they're in worldwide especially here in Guam,
Northern Marianas, Hawaii and other states.
